If aliens do come down then they may not have any interest in us. If they can travel throughout space, down to our planet then they are very advanced. We would simply be like ants, or small rodents to them; insignificant.
Unless our planet has resources they need, they probably would not disturb us.
If oil runs out in the entire Earth, except for in Australia then we would probably think about invading Australia for the survival of America. However, if the area with oil was not Australia, but Canada...Then we'd go to Canada.
Now apply this analogy to aliens&resources and realize that unless Earth has something they need, we're safe.
