Poetry is a way to express yourself in words .
Rap in the other hand... In this society, it's apparently good if it includes words like drugs, girls sexually, and money... basically.

Here is an example of good rap lyrics that fit a pattern from Eminem.

You better lose yourself in
the music,
the moment
you own it,

You better never let it go
you only get
one shot
do not

Miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes
once in a lifetime
yo.

This fits a pattern that would be called poetry.

So what are your thoughts ?

In my opinion,

All music is a form of poetry--whether it be rap, opera, pop, country, or hip-hop--regardless of its content. It can be downright nasty, disturbing, or purely beautiful and smooth.

We all express ourselves in different ways, albeit some of those ways are just disgusting and explicit to some of us. I don't like music about sex or drugs, but that doesn't make them any less like the poetry that they are intended to be by some.
