Do you believe that using the excuse "The video game/TV and or Movies made me do it" as a mean to murder?

Do video games/movies/TV really have an influence of someone committing a murder?

What is your opinion?

I have a big opinion on the topic of entertainment causing someone to commit a crime. I have been watching rated-R movies before I can even remember, yet I haven't commit a murder or attacked anyone. A person is responsible for their own actions. A teenager is suppose to be 17 to watch or buy a rated R movie and for buying mature games. If someone under that age gets a video game or a movie, it is solely that persons judgment and has nothing to do with the creators. The person most likely would have committed the crime whether or not they witnessed it on TV, Games etc.

I mean crimes where happening before the creation of Video games or television. I think instead of blaming anything else, we should blame the person and maybe the parents for not teaching them right from wrong.

I think people like to use those as a scapegoat... most people who play violent games or watch violent movies are in fact not violent. In fact, it usually has to do with bad parenting and the natural thoughts and emotion of the person themselves.

Yeah, I think that most try to use it as way for someone to get a lighter sentence. I think playing video games can relive violent thoughts as it gives someone distraction.

I don't believe it as a excuse and I don't like it when used as a scapegoat for the law and justice system.

I was about to make a topic like this.

I used to think that media,TV, music and video games were to blame until today.Earlier today at school there was a visitor for my Health class and the whole gist of what he basically said was that people have been doing bad staff way before all this new stuff came out. There wasn't Tv , Internet and video games back in the olden days. We might get ideas from this stuff but video games,tv , etc is not to blame for violence.
