School Violence - What are the real causes of violence and bullying in Schools?

A child who starts acting violently will often do so during periods of unstructured and unsupervised time. Juvenile-justice statistics show that, lacking after-school supervision, youth violence rises to above average rates between 3 and 7 p.m.

Any thoughts?

....

I feel a lot of kids are
addicted to computer games, game-boys, etc. that they are hyper a lot of
the time. Often kids are tired, they don't eat a proper lunch so blood
sugar is all over the place which can make them cranky and ready to act
more violently. I think so many are left with no parent supervision
and watching violent shows so much doesn't help. Also a lot of the
games they play are really violent.

I think school violence/bullying has many different reasons. A person who bullies or creates violent could be because they experience abuse in their household or neglect. Also if they were bullied in the past they might bully to make themselves feel better. A lot of people who bully experience low self esteem.

Some of it may also be caused by the child feeling they need to rebel to achieve attention.

It all starts in the home, and then going to school and seeing someone weaker can make that person go after the weaker person to be in control.

They can fight this stuff in the schools all they want, it's a losing battle.

I don't think it will ever be stopped either as it has been going on as long as I can remember.

We aren't all lucky enough to come from a happy home that is for sure.

Can't agree more Leo.

It is always caused through financial problems, drugs, divorce, drink etc and it always affects the children. All they want is love and attention and they do anything to get it.
